Gangsta, Gangsta
Sean is bored at home in front of the tv. He tries to call Emma to get together, but he gets her voicemail instead. The next day he tries to make plans with her again, but she's reluctant to accept his offer since she's busy with the new baby and taking care of Mr. Simpson. But after Sean keeps begging her, she ends up agreeing to spend time with him. Their plans get cancelled, however, when Snake tells her she needs to come straight home after school to babysit. Sean isnt happy that his plans with Emma keep getting ruined. And as this is going on, Sean keeps getting into altercations with the school's new bully, Jay Hogart. He catches Jay and his crew stealing from the school vending machine. The next day Raditch accuses Sean of breaking into the candy machine. Appearently Jay told Raditch that Sean was the one who did it. Sean approches Jay about it, and they end up getting into a physical fight in front of the school. A teacher has to break it up. They both get sent to the principal's office. Jay is laughing and joking about it like it's no big deal. But Sean isn't happy about it. He tells Jay that he already as a record and can't get into anymore trouble. Jay figures out that Sean's the kid from Wasaga who beat a kid up so badly, he defeaned him in one ear. Jay seems to be impressed by this and tells Sean that if he ever wants to hang out with him and his crew, he's more than welcome. The next day Sean approches Jay and his friends while they're working on a car. They're having some trouble so Sean offers to help them do car repairs for free since he knows a lot about mechanics. In the next scene we see Sean walking down the hall with Jay and his crew at school. People seem to be intimidated by them. Meanwhile, Emma is hosting some type of community service project in the ravine. Sean is suppose to help her, but he gets an offer to hang with Jay and his crew instead. Nevertheless, he decides to help Emma instead. While they're picking up garbage in the ravine, they stop to take a break and end up making out. But Kendra walks by and catches them. Emma gets embarrassed and tells Sean they should stop. Afterward, they get into an argument about it in the hallway at school. Sean tells Emma that she never wants to spend any time with him anymore. Emma says that she's just busy. But Sean doesn't care. Emma calls Sean pathetic, and he storms out. The next day, Emma tries to reconcile their fight by apologizing to Sean in front of Jay and his crew. But Sean rejects her apology and he, Jay, and their friends all start laughing at Emma as she walks away. Later on that day, Jay tells Sean they need to buy some new car part, but they don't have the money. Sean suggests a way to get the money; steal Mr. Simpson's new laptop. The next day, Simpson is confused and devastated when he sees it missing. And Emma becomes suspicious when she sees Sean in the hallway.
In the sub-plot JT is embarassed when Toby finds out he had a wet dream about Liberty. And when JT starts ditching Toby for his new popular friends, Toby tells them all about his wet dream.
This was a solid episode, but nowhere near the best of the season. Sean starts to revert back to his former self. He starts hanging out with Jay and his troublemaking friends, and he ruins his relationship with Emma in the process. It's really interesting to watch his character regress, after watching the positive transformation his made in seasons 1 and 2. Sean's always been a bad boy at heart, but it was Emma who helped him change for the better. So it's pretty understandable that when Emma stops spending time with him, Sean would go back to his old self again. The sub-plot is kind of silly, but it shows a couple of things that develop later on; JT gets in with the popular crowd and it also sort of forshadows his future romance with Liberty that takes place next season.
Overall a decent episode.
